The Baden Street Settlement Alvin Wesley Child Development Center, providing day care services to
children ages 6 weeks through 12 years, is designed to meet each child's physical,
social, cognitive and emotional needs. The program strives to help each child reach his or
her full potential through age-appropriate, multicultural and anti-biased practices.
The Child Development
Center; is an accredited center by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children and licensed by the State of New York to serve
151 children, provides a warm,
nurturing atmosphere where children are encouraged to explore, learn and grow at their own
pace. Two nutritious meals and a snack are served daily. Free hearing and speech
screenings, Health-e-Access and visiting nurse services are provided to all the children in
the program.
The Center provides a rich environment that enhances reading readiness skills, offers
activities to develop both fine and gross motor skills and adult role modeling of
acceptable social behavior patterns. Teachers use monthly themes to promote cognition,
language development, safety education, nutrition and hygiene. Within this curriculum, an
emphasis is placed on tolerance and appreciation for cultural differences.
The Center is divided into Infants (6 weeks-17 months); Preschool (18 months -
4 years) and School-age (5 - 12)
sections. Each encourages creativity and provides a wide array of activities that promote
social, physical and emotional growth. |
