Emergency and Family Assistance 152 Baden St. Annie Miller - Program Director Strengthening Families and Supportive Services The Emergency and Family Assistance Department provides resources, services, information and referrals for low-income families, individuals and seniors who are in transition to the world of work, in crisis or are in isolation. In order to reduce incidences of hunger, homelessness and unemployment, the department strengthens families and individuals by providing a number of services: including, food, food vouchers, emergency rent/mortgage assistance, clothing, emergency housing, long term housing referrals, tokens, prescriptions, the Mature Adult Resource Center, Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. The Emergency and Family Assistance Department also provides casework management designed to promote self-sufficiency in families and individuals by providing short-term and long-term strategies to cope with food, financial and unemployment problems as well as referrals to other agencies. In addition, the advocacy program provides temporary assistance to families and individuals who have issues regarding outside agencies including food stamps, temporary assistance, social security/SSI, landlord disputes and other matters. |
