JOBS for Youth
ATTAIN - Creating Digital Parity
JOBS for Youth
The JOBS for Youth program is designed to prepare students to succeed in the real world
by ensuring a solid foundation emphasizing critical thinking and problem solving skills;
along with academic, personal management and technical skills. The key to effectiveness is
that aspects of the programming revolve around the youth and their personal needs.
In partnership with
numerous area employers, Rochester-area youth are offered career exposure, career
preparation and apprenticeship opportunities. JOBS for Youths participants have access to
the Baden Street Settlement Career Resource Center that boasts an up-to-date computer lab
with extensive academic and vocational software and career development library, as well as
access to staff proficient in their application and use. Education is at the heart of all
we do, and "learning by doing" is the methodology. Funded by the New York State Department of Labor with on-going
support from numerous employers large and small, the Monroe County Manufacturing
partnership and Xerox Corporation make the experienced-based career model work.
JOBS For Youth participants are encouraged to build critical thinking and problem
solving skills. Academic curricula is linked to applied job skills and hands-on,
real-world activities. Our school-to-work partnerships with the Rochester City School
District and local employers strengthen our programming and ability to serve our program
participants' needs.
Students receive a biweekly stipend.
