The Mature Adult Resource Center provides nutrition and opportunities to decrease
isolation of seniors age 60 and older. Free transportation is offered to and from the
center located at 86 Vienna Street. Hot, nutritious meals, basic education, recreational
activities and health and wellness information are all available. Transportation is
available for field trips and special events as well as personal errands and doctor’s
appointments. Program participants also have the opportunity to participate in an
intergenerational program with children from the Child Development
Center.
Meals
Monday - Thursday at noon. Unless advanced reservations are required, sign-up upon arrival
for meal. The meals are low salt and diabetic desserts are available. Suggested donation
is $1.75 per meal. No one will be denied because of inability to donate. All donations are
confidential.
Caseworkers
A casework is available to help with Medicare and Medicaid; food stamps; SSI and Social
Security; financial problems; housing; and health insurance as well as other concerns.
Health Education and Counseling
A nurse is provided for health screenings and flu shots. A dietitian provides help with
menu planning, weight control and nutrition education.
Community Service
Volunteer opportunities are available in both the Senior Center and through community
projects. Become a R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) volunteer.
Transportation
Transportation is provided within specific boundaries. Special weekly trips include
grocery and plaza shopping. Suggested donation is 35 cents per trip.
Recreation
Various sports and games, exercise classes, arts and crafts classes, and informational
programs are available throughout the year. |
