The following statement is from the Baden Street Settlement of Rochester, Board of Directors and staff:
“On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff at Baden Street Settlement, we are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Assemblyman David Gantt.
David was a steadfast public servant and a fierce advocate for community-based organizations in Rochester. His tenure has been marked by significant quality-of-life based achievements for children, adults and families in our community. He supported services for youth and the aging. He advanced reliable infrastructure, and he advocated for safety in our neighborhoods.
A friend of Baden Street since childhood, his work helped to secure funding for several vital Agency programs and services over the years from education to building rehabilitation.
His leadership and passion have left an indelible mark on our community. He was a visionary leader, but beyond that, he was a dedicated and caring citizen. Rochester was his city, and every day, in every way, he fought for its people.
We extend our condolences to David’s loved ones and mourn the loss of this remarkable leader and sector advocate. He will be incredibly missed.”
